The 2009 Flash Mob Recruitment Tour is officially over… and it was a great success
As a part of Canada World Youth's continuous efforts to reach out to Canadian youth and inspire them to apply for an international education program, Canada World Youth (CWY) organized the 2009 "Flash Mob" Recruitment Tour, a five-day, nine-city tour from Ontario to Nova Scotia, from December 1 to 5, 2009.
The tour team was composed of Samantha Cacnio (CWY Alumni - Honduras-Manitoba 2007 ), Tyler Colbourne (CWY Alumni - Burkina Faso/Mali-Quebec 2005), John Conklin (CWY Alumni - Ghana/Senegal-New Brunswick 2004), Marie-Laure Tapp (CWY Alumni - Honduras-Ontario 2006 ), Noah Redler (Communications Coordinator), Vibhor Garg (Program Manager, Volunteer Support Unit) and Myriam Levert (Communications Director).
With the help of local teams of CWY youth volunteers, the tour team organized a total of seven Flash Mobs in the same amount of cities (two planned Flash Mobs had to be cancelled due to bad weather). In addition, the team organized information sessions to talk about the Youth Leaders in Action and InterAction programs. The tour was a good opportunity to mobilize young people around CWY's mission and vision.
Furthermore, throughout the tour, the team interviewed past participants, host families and current youth volunteers to gather testimonies on the positive impact of CWY and its programs on youth and their communities. The footage will be used to produce a promotional video on CWY.
One of Canada World Youth's ongoing objectives is to find ways to reach out to youth and encourage them to actively participate in bettering their community. By showing people that our youth volunteers, alumni and staff have a positive energy, the tour demonstrated that the experience offered by CWY programs can have a great transformative impact on youth's lives. It showcased the way that we work together to achieve our goals, and come together to celebrate our successes.
In the coming weeks the CWY staff will be reviewing all the footage and creating videos about the Flash Mobs and our shared experience. In the meantime, you may view the video teaser and some very interesting pictures on CWY Facebook page.
Canada World Youth wishes to convey a special thank you to all the alumni, youth volunteers and program managers who participated in the various activities throughout the tour.
Stay tuned for more on the Flash Mob tour in 2010!
