    Green Miles is growing

    Canada World Youth's Green Miles project is growing! This bold environmental project enables participants to offset the carbon dioxide generated during their international flights. Last year, three teams of participants planted about 1250 trees in the Canadian communities of Granby, Quebec, and Fergus-Elora and Thornbury, Ontario, to reduce their ecological footprint. In 2007-2008, CWY will repeat the exercise with Canadian and Kenyan participants in Sudbury, Ontario, and Kimede Township, Kenya.

    CWY participants paddle for a good cause!

    On June 30, 2007, twenty young Canadians and Uruguayans from Canada World Youth (CWY) participated in a dragon boat race in Salmon Arm, British Columbia, in a friendly competition with the local team from Katimavik, another youth volunteer organization. The goal of the race was to raise funds enabling the hospital in Salmon Arm to purchase a CT-scanner - a piece of high-tech medical imaging equipment.

    Université de Montréal calls on the expertise of CWY

    Université de Montréal has called on the know-how of Canada World Youth (CWY) in the area of non-formal international education to help develop its new training program in international cooperation. Two CWY employees thus participated in a working group composed of representatives of various organizations in the field of international cooperation to develop the major orientations and educational curriculum for the program.

    CWY program receives award of excellence from the Canadian Council on Learning

    The GIT en Amérique program, an initiative of Canada World Youth and Groupe Information Travail (GIT), received an award of excellence in Ottawa yesterday evening as part of the "Sharing the Flame" program of the Canadian Council on Learning (CCL).
