Today, as we celebrate the United Nations International Day of the Volunteer, I take this opportunity, on behalf of the Board of Directors and the staff of Canada World Youth, to express to each of our volunteers our deepest thanks and appreciation for the incredible amount of time, energy, knowledge and expertise that they shared throughout the year.

The Canada World Youth recruitment team is hitting the road this December with a 5 day, 9 city tour to spread the word about CWY and our programs.

Canada World Youth (CWY) is looking for young people between the ages of 15 and 29 who would value a unique international educational experience, to enrol in one of its programs. Candidates who apply before January 15, 2010 will be given priority.

The Honourable Beverly J. Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, took part in a special celebration entitled "Canadian Youth in Action: Meeting Millennium Challenges" organized by Canada World Youth in Ottawa on October 7, 2009.

Canada World Youth is proud to announce that the Government of Canada renewed its support to the organization for a period of five years. The Honourable Beverly J. Oda, Minister of International Cooperation, made the public announcement during a celebration entitled "Canadian Youth in Action: Meeting Millennium Challenges" organized by Canada World Youth, that gathered close to 250 people in Ottawa.

Canada World Youth is proud to announce that it is organizing a cocktail-reception to celebrate Canadian Youth in Action: Meeting the Millennium Challenges on October 7^th, in Ottawa.

The President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada World Youth, Mrs. Iris Almeida-Côté, received the Women of Distinction Award in the Community Service category during the annual YWCA Montreal ceremony that gathered more than 700 people in Montreal on September 21^st.

Canada World Youth has the pleasure to announce that a Global Learner group from Glebe Collegiate was the winner of this year Global Citizenship award at the 12^th annual Spirit of the Capital Youth Awards organized by Child and Youth Friendly Ottawa.

Dr. Sean Riley, Chairman of the Board of Canada World Youth (CWY), announced today the nomination of Mrs. Iris Almeida-Côté as President and Chief Executive Officer of Canada World Youth.  Mrs. Almeida-Côté begins June 1st, 2009.

CWY has the pleasure to announce the creation of it's Equity Action Group. Its mandate will be to develop an organizational strategic plan to promote the advancement of equity and diversity within CWY and its programs.  The group will ensure the development of specific initiatives to facilitate the integration of an equity analysis within Canada World Youth. And will support the implementation of equity initiatives by the different stakeholders of the organization (departments, field, etc.)
